How to Use Google Structured Data Highlighter your site | Webmaster Tools

How to set up Data Highlighter for your website on webmaster tool,it is used for Google to identify and crawl the layout of the structured data on your website.You can apply the Data Highlighter to mark the data fields on your site with a mouse. Its very simple to tag your page on structured Data Highlighter tool

If you are posting articles on your site you can use the data highlighter to tag this data like (Title,Author,Date Published,Category). I will show how to use data highlighter on webmaster tools.


How to use the Google Structured Data Markup


STEP 1

Login to Google Webmaster tools,Left side main menu select Search Appearance drop down menu Select Data Highlighter,

STEP 2


Click the Start Highlighting 


 STEP 3

A Screen will Open in the POP-UP window.Enter the URL of a page found on your website and select the Type of information on URL. Like articles or events etc...

STEP 4

Once entered the URL and select the Types of information.Since i have tagged a article page thus i have selected page as articles.






STEP 5

And then choose the Tag if only entered URL  or tag just this page and other like it







STEP 6

Ok this is where this tool is very useful and cool. You can add the fields by just highlighting them with the mouse.

Here you can see that i have highlighted the title and on the right you can the see that it automatically appears in the title box given.In the same way do it for all the fields. 


STEP 7

Once you have finished highlighted  one page the tool will ask you if want to auto tag other similar pages 

Click here Create page set



All Slimier pages will be tagged the same format in the highlighted tool

And then Click the Done 



STEP 8

After Tagged all pages,you can See the Review of tagged pages and Click here Publish
